    Back to work morning shave. My feelings may be mixed today, but the shave was on point. I'm starting to see what people mean when they say that SOCs take long to break in. This brush isn't changing much from shave to shave anymore, and none of the tips have split yet (which I understand to be a major step in the break in process for these).

    Cracking shave, no more mishaps like the other day, and the chin as sorted itself out so it's back to going swimmingly.

    Knackered after the zoo yesterday, as is always the case I'm the pack mule, but for 5 of us instead of the usually 3. Of course the daughter was knackered by the time we were halfway around so that was entertaining.

    Chilled one today though and that shave kicked it off nicely.

    Straight shave number twelve. I went XTG on the second pass today on my cheeks and chin instead of two WTG passes, and ATG on my neck since I couldn’t seem to figure out any way to go XTG.

    I’m not quite sure the best way to hold the razor for XTG on my cheeks and chin but I managed to make it work. I’m not sure I got my cheeks any smoother than just two WTG passes was giving but I didn’t cut myself either so that’s something. There was progress on my chin today. The second XTG pass got it smoother than just WTG but still felt really awkward.

    The brush is getting soft now with no noticeable pokiness today, but I’m still needing to reload for the second pass.

    Edge Condition Album

    Another excellent shave, but I just started to use my "dulling edge" technique.

    I normally shave with a very keen edge and my technique for that is to use a very low angle (for cutting efficiency) and very light pressure (to minimize irritation). As the edge dulls, I keep the same low angle but increase pressure on the bevel, and not on the apex. This pressure lowers the bevel and the apex into the area where the whiskers poke through the skin. Raising the spine and directing more pressure into the apex (which is more natural) drives only the apex into that area. For me, this approach does not cut as well and can result in some irritation.

    As the blade dulls, I've found that I am more inclined to raise the spine and press harder, and while this feels "right", it does not work as well for me.

    Finally got the brush to splay, but it took a bit of effort. Almost 2 weeks in and probably equivalent to around the 5-7 use of the Moar Boar. No blood again. Did go pretty slow today. Took about 30 minutes from prep to clean up.

    Discord LatherBot told me I should hone my razor tonight so I take no responsibility for anything that occurred beyond that. For real though I had a good edge before AA started and went to refresh it on the translucent Arkansas stone and it just vanished. The last few days were an absolute struggle and my face has kinda paid the price for plugging along with a janky edge. Decided tonight to go ahead and fiddle with a coticule that I’ve hardly used since I got it, but honestly the edge was pretty darn comfortable overall. I’ll decide around the group honing day as to whether I wanna change it up then or refresh what I’ve got now. So this is my official departure from headless horsemen (u/whosgotthepudding) and a move over to hang out with the rock lovers and do some honing (u/Djundjila)
