Down On The Farm For AA - Day 3

    • Brush: Omega 81151
    • Razor: Merkur 37C
    • Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux (3)
    • Lather: Stirling - Scots Pine Sheep
    • Post Shave: Stirling - Baker Street splash
    • Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial unscented AS balm

Another day of wrangling sheep and pigs down on the farm. Today was the first day I didn't have to go back to the tub for a reload with this brush. Of course, I also loaded the brush like it owed me money so that could be a factor. Before and after brush pics here. I'm enjoying using the 37C for AA. This was my first razor when I started this journey 16 years ago. And while I got good shaves with it for many years, time, wisdom, technique and better lather skills have made for even better shaves with this bad boy.

Time for more coffee on a rainy Saturday morning. Try to enjoy your day and remember to be kind to one another.

$ShepherdsofStirling day 2. I’m learning that this soap mellows out enough to pair with just about anything. I already had a decent understanding of how good the mutton base is, but I’m appreciating it more and more each day. Aquatic vibes for a rainy summer day.

Great shave. Everything clicked. This blade in this razor is just incredible. I really enjoyed the scent of Port-Au-Prince today.

Port-Au-Prince has always been "the scent that could have been great" to me. The lemongrass has always been a turn off, both because I'm not a fan of the smell, and also because it has given me a small amount of frag burn (I assume it's the lemongrass because it's a known common irritant, and vetiver is not).

The Ariana and Evans method of continuing to use soap even though it burns you in an attempt to "teach" your skin to grin and bear it seems to be working. No tinge anymore. My nose also might be learning to ignore the lemongrass, as today it came across as just good ol' Vetiver.

Third shave in and I’m really missing the scent of variety but the mutton tallow is really starting to shine on how easy it is to shave with. BOAR RUSH THOUGH, love it. Slant razor is still a struggle but I think im getting the hang of it. (Thanks for everyone’s tips on the last post)

    • Brush: Declaration Grooming B14 “Nebula” Badger
    • Razor: Schick Hydro Magic
    • Blade: Schick Injector (2)

    • Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. - Unscented - Aftershave feat. House of Mammoth - Permafrost
    • Osma: Osma - Osma
    • Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery - G20

Unfortunately this is my second bad shave in a row, and I think I know the culprit.

When I first got my B14 I was astonished by it. Best brush I ever used, it made lather effortlessly and felt great on my face. But as time went on I felt the performance began to drop, and I’ve always wondered if it has to do with the fact that I lived with extraordinarily hard water for many years.

Last night I shampooed it with a clarifying shampoo. That felt like it helped. I’m now thinking of doing a vinegar rinse to try to clean out whatever residue is making this brush underperform.

Anyway, now to see if tags get registered if they’re inside a spoiler tag.
